A salad potluck luncheon is scheduled at noon on Tuesday, June 7. Please bring your favorite salad and the recipe if it was not published in the Stained Glass Cookbook. If you prefer to bring a dessert instead of a salad, please contact June Carter 541-753-7185. Guests are welcome.

A Very Special Program
E.C.W. will host a very special presentation by Dr. Alan Sandler, OHSU Knight Cancer Center, on Tuesday, June 28, at 1:00 p.m. in Simpson Hall. Dr. Sandler will cover recent developments in cancer research and treatment options and will discuss some very compelling research about lung cancer which is his specialty. Dr. Sandler is a Professor of Medicine and the Division Chief of the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

We feel very fortunate to be able to bring such a distinguished speaker to our community. Please extend an invitation to friends – the event will be open to anyone in the community who is interested in cancer research and treatment. Oregonians are blessed to have the OHSU Knight Cancer Center with its outstanding research and treatment so close at hand.

E.R.D. Micro Loans for Women
E.C.W. is sponsoring Episcopal Relief & Development’s Micro Loans for Women as its special project for 2011. Funding our first sponsored loan of $200 was made possible by selling 41 copies of Presiding Bishop Katharine’s new book, “Heartbeat of God.” Additional funds are being collected through “Small Change for Real Change” collection jars distributed to parishioners interested in helping. Our goal is to involve as many parishioners as possible for this ongoing project which will continue with ingathering the first Sunday of each month throughout the year. Hot cross buns were made under the supervision of Mary Stone Moursund and sold singly or by the dozen on Palm Sunday with the proceeds of $195.61 earmarked for E.R.D. Micro Loans.
