Musical Notes
This year Youth Choir members will have an opportunity to learn liturgical repertoire in combination with more structured vocal technique. The Good Samaritan Music Program will be following the Royal School of Church Music methodology, which has the goal of uplifting the spiritual life of our communities through high quality choral music. We will provide musical education to singers through a structured choral music program, teaching voice, notation, part-singing and the meaning of liturgical song within worship. The method book, called “Voice for Life,” will allow children of different ages get the basics of breathing technique, sound production and notation, and apply them during choir rehearsal. We will start with the Light Blue Level, moving gradually to more advanced level. We encourage parents that have children ages 8-13 to consider this opportunity for their children.
Adult Choir will resume rehearsals on Thursday, September 8th, 6:30-8:00PM at Simpson Hall. You are cordially invited to join. Please come and give it a try! The program planned for this fall includes a wide variety of styles, from Bach's Magnificat and Renaissance motets to the 20th century modern anthems and spirituals. Youth Choir will start rehearsals on Sunday, September 18th, at 8:30AM in the sanctuary. Children ages 8-13 are invited to join this group, where part singing is the main focus. In addition, a new framework, known as a Royal School of Church Music, will be introduced to the choir, providing foundation for voice training, music theory, and the meaning of liturgical song within worship. I hope you consider this opportunity for your children!
The adult Choir will be singing at the 10:00 a.m.
service most Sundays. Youth and Junior High choirs
will be participating in a 10:00 a.m. service once a
month.
